Vitamin C is a water soluble nutrient. The level of ascorbic acid in the blood reaches a peak 2 to 3 hours after ingestion and then decreases as excess is eliminated in the urine and through perspiration in 3 to 4 hours.

Contra-indications:
- Vitamin C 100mg contains sucrose and therefore is not recommended for diabetics.
- Vitamin C increases excretion of oxalic acid and uric acid, common causes of kidney stones.
- A personal or family history of kidney stones is a warning that you should not take high doses of Vitamin C in the long term.
- Diabetic medication (diabinase) and sulphur drugs may not be as effective when taken with Vitamin C
